CastingThe more the merrierClients often need multiples of prototypes for pilot production purposes and engineering testing. In these instances we make RTV rubber molds using master models and then cast duplicates in urethane or epoxy resin. The casting can be made with color cast in, water clear or tinted transparent, translucent and in a variety of durometers to simulate a rubber overmold design. These resin castings can easily be finished and painted to resemble production parts with the addition of graphics and textures. In the example shown, one of our competitors came to us with a personal network router project they had designed. We took their CAD data, made a master model, then used the master to create silicone RTV molds. From those molds we cast 10 sets of parts for their pilot production needs. The solution was quick and inexpensive. |
